Historical Records of Goldey-Beacom College

Folder 1

Goldey Beacom Interim Reports made to Middle States 1972 - 1974. After attaining Correspondent status in 1972, the College was required by Middle States to file interim reports twice a year until attaining accreditation.

Oct. 1972 Report states the trustees' decision that the College remain an urban junior college of business. It itemizes many new developments at the College, including the election of Paul Brown as president and the elimination of all conflict of interest on the Board of Trustees.

Feb. 1973 Report reflects the College's continuing efforts to serve center city underprivileged students, but it notes a further decline in enrollments.

Oct. 1973 Report includes the trustees' decision to relocate the College in the suburbs (Pike Creek Valley). It also attributes a marked increase in enrollments to the Special Veterans Evening Division that was begun in June 1973 to encourage veterans to use educational benefits provided under the GI bill.

Feb. 1974 Report includes the progress on the new campus, where the College expects to start classes in September. It also notes increasing enrollments and a drop in attrition rates.

Oct. 1974 Report details the move to Pike Creek Valley and the trustees' decision to purchase, rather than lease, the new campus. An office of Veterans' Affairs headed by a full-time director was created to handle enrollments that increased at a rate of 103.42 percent. Increased enrollments in all divisions are cited as evidence that the move to Pike Creek was a correct decision.
